Are Your Hands Too Full?

Jesus tells us to "take up our cross" and follow Him. This 1-minute devotion explains one reason many people don't do this. #Bible #Devotions

I sometimes struggle to hold on to my plans, setting goals that God didn't inspire.

But God has prepared things for me to do, not the other way around.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."  Ephesians 2:10

When we follow Christ, we give up our plans and purposes and take up our cross and follow Him.

"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." Matthew 16:24

We follow Christ because we love Him. And we know His plans are always best for us—even when they're difficult.

Are there any of your plans you need to lay down today?

Remember: We can't carry our cross when our hands are full!

  1. Oooh, love that line, "We can't carry our cross when our hands are full." Yep, I'm guilty of this. It's so hard to lay it all down, but God is calling me to that BIG time today. I covet your prayers, Gail. Why does life have to be so messy? :)

  2. I love the line...Today let's ask God to show us anything we've refused to give up. We can't carry our cross when our hands are full.

This is so true! Now, I just need to learn to empty my hands.

    1. Our hands are full when we are holding on to our own plans instead of seeking God's will.

Our plans can include anything that is not God's will for us, whether it's spending our life focused on money or bad relationships or simply ignoring things God wants us to do.

  5. This is timely! God is urging me to get busy with what He's called me to do, and this is one more nudge. Thank you dear sister!
