Complain or Walk

We can learn a valuable lesson from the Israelites. We can complain or walk. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

God freed the Israelites from slavery, displayed His love and power in signs and wonders, defeated their enemies, provided for their needs, and called them His “treasured possession.” See Exodus 19:3-5.

But they repeatedly, continually, persistently complained. They insisted that their lives were better when they were slaves to the Egyptians.

In truth, we're all slaves to something:

"Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?" (Romans 6:16)

When God’s Word tells us to do something or not do something, we can complain like the Israelites and stay enslaved to sin.

Or we can say like the psalmist: "You have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life" (Psalm 56:13).

Let's stop complaining and walk, dear Christians!

  3. Thank you, Gail, for this tidbit in the middle of my night. Recently I have really committed not to complain. Complaining can be in the form of even our thoughts which ultimately affect our spirit towards those around us. We can ask for help in such a way that complains how they weren't doing enough to help in the first place. It doesn't produce life. So, I am walking!!

    1. You are so right, Judith. Our thoughts are really where our complaining begins even if we never utter them aloud. Thanks for adding that insight.

  4. This is so cool because it is exactly what we are studying during our Awana large group time! It is what we are reinforcing with the kids!

We have studied Joseph a bit and Moses a bit and keep reinforcing that we have a great big God who cares about us and loves us and that we can trust Him with the unknowns.

Also wanted you to know that "Making Your Home Sing Monday" linky party is live and waiting for your posts!

    1. I think our complaining costs us our peace and our joy. I certainly don't feel either when I'm complaining!

Thanks so much for linking up to "Making Your Home Sing Monday!" today!

  5. Dear Gail
I have read somewhere that the familiar streets of hell are sometimes favored above the freedom, the liberty and uncertainty of heaven! Oh, the human race.
    Much love to you
    Mia

  6. We all just thank the Lord for each day we wake. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring.

  7. Amen indeed, I really needed this message to remind myself before I make any decisions, first I must say if it is The Lord's Will Hallelujah!! And for my 21 day Daniel fast, I made it my goal, to Thank our Mighty God for another day, upon waking
