Did You Know God Collects Your Tears?

This wonderful Scripture cannot help but encourage you. It speaks so beautifully and figuratively about God's love and concern. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Psalms

Imagine someone so concerned and involved in your life that they were there whenever you cried, and they wiped every tear from your eyes.

Now go one step further…imagine that person actually caught each tear in a bottle and recorded your sorrow in a ledger.

The psalmist identifies God as that kind of friend:
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”   Psalm 56:8

In the next verse, the psalmist says, “This I know: God is on my side.”

Sometimes when I shed tears, I feel alone. I even blame God for my sorrows at times, or I wallow in self-pity, bitterness or hopelessness.

And during those times when I am working against God’s purposes in my life, God is always there, calling me back to repentance, forgiveness, and hope.

Today I’m thanking God that even when I’m my own worst enemy, God is my Helper and Friend.

Note: The Psalms often use figurative language, so we shouldn't assume there is an actual jar of our tears in heaven, but this passage effectively transmits how deeply and intimately God cares for us.

  5. Hmmmm, somewhere last week, from morning till evening I was filled with tears and it was flowing down at any opportunity. I couldn’t utter a word nor a prayer. From morning till evening I didn’t step out of my room and I was wondering what was happening. I know I have been going through a lot these days a single mother of a boy. But there is one thing I have always known which is that God’s mercy and grace has been sufficient in my life. Thank you for the post. It did put a smile on my face, I think hope is was it gave me and also, that truly God’s love is all that I need.

  7. Amen to the most high God. Years ago I kept my tears in a small vial. Sadly, over time I lost it. Between moving and raising small children at the time the vial was unfortunately caught in the shuffle of things. But Psalm 56:8 and Psalm 126:5 are two of the most encouraging scriptures to read when those grips of sorrow try to hold you captive. Even though I never found my vial of tears, I did find comfort in knowing that I may have lost that vile, but God didn't lose not one single tear. And not only that, he knew what each tear was for... Thank you Jesus!!!

  8. I believe there are actual jars in heaven with our tears in them. I heard a testimony of someone who the Lord showed them heaven, and they saw the jars of tears in heaven.
