Validity

"The trouble with quotes on the internet is you can’t check their validity."
~ Abraham Lincoln*

I saw this quote on Pinterest making fun of the way so many of us find our "facts."

We’re bombarded by so much information and it's hard to know what is accurate.

I’ve had friends send me panicked emails about terrible political or religious situations based completely on misinformation.

And some of these scams are started for the explicit purpose of making Christians look foolish.

But we can do a pretty good job of that on our own.

It's not just politics.

We buy into the feel-good philosophies of our culture that tell us life is about us, our self-esteem, our pleasure, and our rights. And we forget the boatload of Scripture verses that tell us just the opposite (e.g. Matthew 10:38Luke 9:23).

But here’s a quote we can fully trust and validate:

“The words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.”
~ God

Yes, these are God's words and they're always true. You can validate them here: Psalm 12:6

*Although Lincoln knew the meaning of windows, a mouse, a blackberry, a laptop, and booting, I don't think he really said that...well, at least I didn't hear him say it... but I read it on the internet so it must be true.
