Dirty Thoughts

If you’re struggling in some area of your life, it’s likely your thoughts are involved. Learn how to overcome bad thoughts.

When you let your mind wander, where does it go?

I don’t want to tell you how often mine heads straight to dirty thoughts—not porno, but bitter memories or worries or self-pity. This is especially true when I’m going through a difficulty.

Did you know that we speak at a rate of 120 words a minute and think at a rate of 1300 words a minute?

If you’re struggling in some area of your life, it’s likely your thoughts are involved. Learn how to overcome bad thoughts.
That means negative thoughts can bury us in a pit of self-despair 10 times faster than spoken words.

No wonder Scripture says, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

If you’re struggling in some area of your life, it’s likely your thoughts are involved. Take time today to ask God to help you take your thoughts captive.

  5. That is amazing data on negative thoughts! It certainly does not pay to keep a Poor Me and self pity attitude. You have given us some excellent food for thought!

  6. I've just clicked on your blog through Mara's and wondered what it was about. I have very very negative thinking, sometimes I get so angry and depressed that I get headaches, stomach aches, shoulder aches and I brood over things on and on and on. This is for one reason and another but sometimes I feel no one at all understands, and I have no one to really talk to about it.

  7. So many negative things pop up in my head. It just makes matters worse. This is one of my worst struggles. It is really hard to let it go, but I find it easier if it leave it at the Almighty's feet. It may not completely be gone from my mind, but I do find a small sense of peace after.

  9. This is a verse I'm seeking to incorporate into my life this year. Amazing how many times the Holy Spirit brings it to mind as I start going down a dark trail or 'what ifs'. Thank you for this word!!!!
