Adjusting Our Focus

Check out this 1-minute devotion and make sure you have a Philippians 3 focus. It's important!

What challenges are you dealing with? And what's your focus today, this week, this month, this year?

The Apostle Paul had a shameful past (Acts 22:4-5), and he lived with daily challenges and difficulties, sometimes not having enough to eat (Philippians 2:12-13). He was hated, beaten, shipwrecked, and imprisoned (2 Corinthians 11:24-25).

What was Paul's focus?

“I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.”  Philippians 3:13-14

Some popular
Christian teachings tell us to focus our energies on being comfortable and wealthy. Some tell us to focus on accepting cultural values and fitting in.

But we are not out on a Sunday walk. We're in a race that requires our full attention. So “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” focusing our energies on God's purposes for our lives (Hebrews 12:1-2Ephesians 2:10).
