Were They Ever A Part of Us?

Looking back, we sometimes are surprised by the changes in the lives of people who once professed Christ.

Have you ever enjoyed fellowship with someone and then lost touch with them for several years only to find out that they'd walked away from the Lord?

Have you ever trusted a ministry and donated to it for years only to discover that they had given up some of their Christians values in order to gain finances?

Scripture warns us that sometimes people seem like genuine believers, but they never really belonged to the family of God in the first place (Matthew 7:13-14; 1 John 2:19).

We are living in times when many are walking away from biblical faith, having a form of godliness but denying its power (2 Timothy 3:1-51 John 3:9).

Let's not relax our view of faith based on the bad examples. When we are genuinely saved, our faith should always be growing in strength and conviction, moving away from compromise, not toward it.

Our church and the ministries we support should be strengthening their biblical values, helping Christians face the cultural decline, not joining it.

Dear Christians, let's be deliberate about improving our knowledge of God's Word. Let's be increasingly cautious in avoiding cultural half-truths. Let's seek God's will and His purposes for our lives (Ephesians 2:10).

If you're unsure about your progress, please take some time to pray and ask God to help you grow.

For additional insights: How to Move Forward When a Loved One Walks Away from the Lord. And I encourage you to check out one of my previous Bite Size Bible studies about a woman I knew who walked away from her faith. It gives some of the reasons this happens: A Woman Who Said "Goodbye" to Her Christian Faith.

I also encourage you to ask yourself how you can better reflect your faith in your daily life.

Let me offer one idea: There are definitely down sides to social media, but I believe one way we can reflect our faith is on our profiles on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram.

If you are on social media, Bible Love Notes can help you share your faith. Check out our sites and share, "like," and comment on our images and devotions so our posts will be sent into more people's feeds! We don't gain anything financially from increased readership. That's not our goal. Our goal is to share biblical truths that strengthen the church and convert the unsaved.
