Balanced Presentations of the Gospel Are Losing Ground

We need to find churches, Bible studies, and fellowship groups that are willing to speak both truth and grace.

Christian teachings that present both grace and truth will never be as popular as half-truth presentations that share grace alone.

My book Wisdom for Life contains devotions based on Psalms and Proverbs. I knew it would be more popular if I avoided passages that addressed issues like abortion, immoral lifestyles, and evolution. But I decided if God wanted them included in Psalms and Proverbs, He'd want them included in a few of my devotions along with the many passages about His wonderful grace and love. (See note.)

It's confusing and deceptive to address grace and love without addressing sin and repentance. That's one reason we have Side A, B, and Y Christians bending to culture.

Scripture never sugarcoats sin. It tells us that God hates sin because it damages people's hearts and souls and separates them from His love and salvation

We must have a biblical understanding of the illogical, unethical, abusive lies promoted in our world.

When Paul wrote his strong rebuke of homosexuality in Romans 1:16-32, Greek and Roman cultures fully accepted gay lifestyles, one of many signs that they were on the decline. But Paul didn't let culture define his sermons because he was speaking for God, not man. And that's why he began with this statement:

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”

I encourage you to read these one-minute devotions for further encouragement and make sure you are part of a church, Bible study, women's or men's group that unashamedly teaches both grace and truth.

Peace is Not the Highest Good

All Sins Are Not the Same

Truth with Love, Love with Truth

Grace and Works, Faith and Obedience

Note: My book, Wisdom for Life doesn't focus on the hard issues. It offers a good overview of the love, grace, wisdom, joy, and comfort found in Psalms and Proverbs.

I never charge for subscriptions to Bible Love Notes and the only thing I advertise is my book. I hope you will consider buying a copy if you haven't already. It helps us spread God's Word and will improve my possibility of publishing more books. Wisdom for Life is also a great value. It's an attractive hardcover priced cheaper than most softcover books. In addition, it is typically offered for 25-30% off at Amazon, CBD, and Lifeway.
