We Need It: Love

A quick but meaningful look at love as described in 1 Corinthians 13. We need this kind of love and we need to give it to others.

Love is patient: Are you able to accept delays, problems, and suffering?

Love is kind: Are you friendly, generous, and considerate?

It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud: Do you encourage others even when they have something you don't have? Do you let others praise you instead of praising yourself?

It does not dishonor others: Do you show respect for leaders, the elderly, and your parents?

It is not self-seeking: Do you think of others first and try to see things from their perspective?

It is not easily angered: When you are hurt, mistreated, or stressed, are you able to control your temper?

It keeps no record of wrongs: When there is tension, do you refuse to dredge up past offenses but stay focused on reconciliation?

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth: Are you honest, wanting what’s best for all concerned?

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres: Do you believe that your faith is big enough to work through difficult relationship problems and other difficulties in life?

  1. This is so different from what the world teaches which usually is 'me first'. And we can't even disagree with kindness anymore. These verses alone could change everything.

    1. Yes, Herbie, God's Word is so often the opposite of what the world teaches. And you are so right about not even being able to disagree with kindness.
      God bless you!
