Don't Lose Your "Mind"

This 1-minute devotion is a good warning for us to guard our hearts. Let it encourage you to stand firm. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Devotions

We must guard our hearts against ungodly influences so we don't "lose our minds" (Proverbs 4:23).(1)

You see, there are two kinds of "minds" in this world (1 Corinthians 2:14-16):

There are worldly minds: The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

And there are minds of Christ: The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments . . . we have the mind of Christ.

Sometimes professing Christians let false teachings and cultural pressures "change their minds." They start viewing Christian friends as legalistic and seek companions who are more accepting of their sins (1 Corinthians 15:33). Eventually, if they aren't careful, they "lose their minds" (1 Timothy 4:1-2).

That's why it's so important that we are faithful in the little things (Luke 16:10), carefully aware of negative influences (Psalm 101:3), and daily feeding our minds with God's Word (Colossians 3:16).

(1) Ungodly influences are found in our culture, but they can also be found in our churches. To be aware of false teachings inside the church see the 1-minute devotions in the Ex-vangelical Archives.

  1. A friend of mine from Church and me were talking about this a few days ago. How we've become passive to sin especially as the youth because we don't want to seem leaglistic or judgemental. But we have to raise our standards to God's Word and stand by it. No one grows in a perfunctory faith

  2. It certainly a struggle to maintain the mind of Christ when you live in a Babylonian culture, constantly being bombarded by ungodly, fleshly things that are contrary to the life you are called to live in Christ...yet we continue to press an hold fast to that which is good.

  3. It’s hard to live in the world but not be worldly. One cannot serve mammon and God. Prayer is important as is reading the bible. Don’t forget to put on the armour of God for protection as Satan is waiting for the chance to tempt you away from Gods precepts.

    1. We must stand firm in our Godly convictions. We cannot allow ourselves to state that it is difficult living for God, especially in our minds. That is the trick of the enemy. We have to meditate on the Word of God consistently throughout each day and pray consistently. It is important to have a relationship with God and be in constant communication with him. He will help you through the challenges, struggles and the victories. We have to be determined to live for God no matter what life brings our way. We can count on Him to bring us through. He said in his Word, " I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me". I am a witness of this in my own life. We must stay true to God's principles, It is not going to be easy all of the time. You must know and believe that God is with you.
