Who Are the Children of God?

Do you think all people are children of God? You better check Scripture then! This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible
I’ve sometimes used the term “children of God” loosely, but the Bible clearly reserves this term for Christ-followers.

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1

Everyone is made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26), but being a child of God is a “right” of salvation:

"To all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God." John 1:12

Our adoption as God's children is confirmed by His Spirit (Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 1:5; Romans 8:14-17).

Our culture of tolerance and relativism seeks to downplay the importance of faith, but God’s Word is clear.

He is the Creator of all men, but Father only to His children (John 8:42-44).

This should inspire great confidence in those of us who've become His children, and it should also motivate us to share the gospel with those outside the family of God.

  1. We are all God's creation, but only those who believe are called His children. Good post, thanks.

  2. Good morning. I enjoy your love notes and am encouraged daily. But I have to say that a very important part of becoming a child of God was not on your list. BAPTISM!!!
Mark16:16 he who believes AND is baptized shall be saved.
The scripture says you need to be baptized!

  3. cortezteacher: you must read "Is baptism necessary for salvation" from GotQuestions.org. Your statement is not entirely true. I also think you need to read your bible again because there is no Mark 16:16, at least not in mine. (RSV)
