The Sting of Correction

The Sting of Correction - Proverbs 15:3. It might sting a bit but it helps us grow
It's hard to be criticized or corrected.

It stings a bit.

I used to edit submissions for a devotional blog, and I saw how corrections brought out the best or worst in writers. Good writers accepted edits and learned from them. Bad writers insisted their work was good enough.

This 1-minute devotion addresses the "sting of correction" and the benefits of using that sting for good. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #DevotionsPeople respond similarly to correction about their attitudes and actions. Maturing Christians accept it and grow. Carnal Christians insist they're good enough.

Two reasons correction is good for our souls:
1. It gives us an opportunity to develop humility - something very important to God (James 4:6).
2. It's invaluable in identifying sins we might otherwise overlook (Matthew 18:15Galatians 6:1; 2 Timothy 2:25)

It stings a bit, but it's a good sting (Proverbs 27:5-6).

Now let me suggest a way to prepare your heart for correction. Check out my post Accepting Correction - 10 Scriptures and read through it regularly or join me in memorizing several of the passages. Hiding God's Word in our hearts is invaluable (Psalm 119:11)!
