Rabbit Ears

One morning, a rabbit in my back yard taught me some interesting truths about listening to God. Enjoy! #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

One morning I pulled back the curtains in our living room and saw a rabbit scurry away, alerted by the sound.

There was a glass door, a screened porch, and eighteen feet between that rabbit and me.

One morning, a rabbit in my back yard taught me some interesting truths about listening to God. Enjoy! #BibleLoveNotes #Bible
No human ear would have heard those rustling curtains.

I did some research and discovered rabbits have much better hearing than humans.

And they have the advantage of huge ears that funnel sound from all directions.

I'm always amazed at the design and variety of God's creation. But that little rabbit made me think of an important spiritual truth too:

"He who has ears to hear, let him hear." Matthew 11:15

I want "rabbit ears" when it comes to spiritual things, listening carefully to God's warnings and guidance and scurrying after Him.

"Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors." Proverbs 8:34

  1. Love your analogy! Boy, we sure would look funny with rabbit ears, but oh! the lessons we would learn, the blessings we would receive, the comfort we could rest in! Thank you for sharing!

  2. From time to time Believers (those who have accepted will finish reading a passage and know in their heart that God had them in mind when He wrote this. God knew we would need guidance many times during our lives.
From my reading today in Luke (NIV)
Christ explains the parable of the Sower in Luke, verses 5-15.
Jesus speaking to the unsaved crowds: verse 11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.”
5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.
7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.
8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain (believe) it, and by persevering produce a crop.

Most important, 8 (cont.): When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
If God has given you ears to hear that you might be saved, these verses were written especially for you. Don’t waste His (possibly final) offer.
