Christians in the Age of Selfies

We live in an age of dangerous SELFIES, and I'm not talking about photos. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

It's the age of selfies.

And I'm not talking about pictures.

I'm talking about self-esteem, self-fulfillment, self-adulation, self-contentment, self-confidence.

The Bible began with Eve seeking to fulfill herself apart from God, falsely believing she could become like God.

Selfies started the mess...our fallen earth, our fallen human nature, disease, decay, evil, suffering, confusion, death.

And throughout history selfies continue to ruin our world.

Self always has and always will stand in the way of knowing God. Jesus said it this way:

“If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?" Luke 9:23-25, NLT

God alone should be the focus of our esteem, fulfillment, adulation, contentment, and confidence.

  1. Excellent reminder. When I focus on me I see nothing else but when I focus on Him I see though His eyes what He wants me to see.
