Aha Moments

John 16:22, No one can take away our Joy in Jesus, Worry
Often while reading Scripture, I get an "aha moment."

Recently, while worrying (i.e. failing to trust God), I read John 16.

Jesus is talking to the disciples about the sorrow they'll feel when He dies, but He encourages them by telling them they'll again rejoice....and here's where my aha moment came:

He says "no one will take away your joy."

No one can take away the joy of knowing the Risen Jesus because it's a joy that isn't dependent on people or circumstances. It's a joy dependent on Jesus alone. If we lose it, then we've given it away...it hasn't been taken from us.

Nothing about Jesus can make us sad or lonely or forgotten or misunderstood or unfairly judged or hopeless.

No one can take away our joy in Jesus.

No one.

Jesus knows us and our circumstances and He knows exactly what we need to hear.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take ♥! I have overcome the world.” Jesus (John 16:33)

Aha!

  1. How heartfelt to know that you struggle, along with me, with worry.
The book of John hands us, such wisdom and knowledge.

  2. For whatever reason I have never "felt" the love of God. I do believe it is there, but what does it feel like. I have been a disciple for 18 years, but I believe that I was always shut off from love, therefore looked for it in all the wrong places. What is it supposed to feel like to give my burdens to Jesus?

    1. Hi Eddie,
If you have believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord, then you are in His love whether you feel it or not. Romans 10:9. Facts matter more than feelings, but feelings usually follow.

First, I encourage you to make sure you have given your life to Christ because becoming a Christian requires surrendering to Christ each day.

Then, if you are confident of this, I encourage you to wait. Don't go searching for love in the wrong places or you may never understand God's love. Wait and seek the Lord, only the Lord, for your fulfillment.

I pray that you will have the strength to wait upon the Lord so that He can renew your strength - Isaiah 40:31.
