Why Gail Has Written 1-Minute Devotions for Eleven Years!

Do you know why Gail started writing 1-minute devotions for a blog that has grown to over 20,000 subscribers? This 1-minute devotion explains.

I receive no financial benefits from writing Bible Love Notes, but it has been a "rich" and profitable experience for my spirit.

In 2011, I found myself grieved by the damaging choices one of my loved ones was making. Psalm 119:25 describes my prayer when this happened:

"I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word."

That's when I started writing Bible Love Notes because I knew only Scripture could "preserve" my well-being. Only Scripture could divide truth from error in my hopeless sorrow (Hebrews 4:12).

It didn't take me long to learn that others wanted the same counsel, correction, and challenges I was needing, and Bible Love Notes readership increased dramatically.

Of course, Bible Love Notes is more than help for those who are hurting. Like other Christians, I need comfort, but I also need to build my faith so I can face life's challenges with integrity, wisdom, and hope.

God has taught me so much these past eleven years! It's been a wonderful privilege and a huge responsibility.

And next month (2/23), God gives me another privilege. I will have my first book published. Just like Bible Love Notes, it has been a labor of love, hard work, and prayer.

The sorrow that laid me low in 2011 continues, and God continues to use that sorrow for good in my life (Romans 8:28).

If you are feeling "laid low in the dust," get yourself into God's Word! And you will learn the same wonderful truths I have learned!!

  1. So glad u decided to start BLN Gail. I have a close family member who has gone somewhat AWOL in the faith, causing sad consequences for others too. I, too, share a deep sorrow, maybe similar. Not that u or I would ever choose it this way, but I'm glad that good has come out of it for u, and undoubtedly, for others. As u say, Romans 8:28.

    1. Thanks Bev for your encouragement. I hear from lots of people who are suffering as you and I are with wayward family members. May God give us strength and wisdom, perseverance and peace! God bless you.
