Don't Be Stupid!

Let's not be stupid. God has given us some important instructions in His Word. This 1-minute devotion explains.

In our build-your-self-esteem world, it's becoming increasingly rare for people to give or receive honest, constructive criticism.

Even worse, many Christians are convinced God never rebukes or disciplines His followers.

I've often heard someone say that when God looks at them, He doesn't see their sins; He only sees Jesus.

This belief isn't found in the Bible.

Scripture tells us we're counted righteous in Christ, but that doesn't mean God is ignorant of our sins or content with our character.

God "disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.” Hebrews 12:6

His Word "is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-18).

God doesn't sugar-coat it:

"Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid." Proverbs 12:1

God forgives our sins, but He loves us too much to overlook them.

Let's not be stupid.

  1. You need to correct the English in your picture. It should be loves knowledge and wants to be... I have this as a jpg but am not sure how to send it to you.

    1. Thanks...I always appreciate people who help me with corrections and typos. But this verse actually reads correctly because the subject is Any, not anyone. I copied directly from the GNT. But thanks again...I'm never offended by being made aware of mistakes...I certainly make them from time to time. : )

  2. That caught my eye too. So I think it is something that needs our attn. When the Lord is speaking to Christians as a group, I believe he means all of us in this group. None in our Christian family, should run around thinking because of our salvation, the entire ride of life will be a free for all. Too many in this group are "Christians by Default." They pull salvation out of their pockets when convenient, or it is posted on a board to make then look like a good person. Each and every one of us in this lot will be disciplined, punished, and held accountable.. Christianity isn't part time, it is lifestyle and forever.

  3. As a loving parent disciplines their child because they love them and want them to grow mature and wise so our Lord disciplines & how much more does he love us with an unconditional sacrificial love.
