5 Things to Remember When You Feel Like Blaming God For Your Difficulties

This 1-minute devotion offers 5 things to remember when your life doesn't make sense and you feel like blaming God.

My friend's husband left her for another woman, and her
first reaction was to blame God for allowing such sadness into her life. It took her several months before she accepted the fact that her problems were based on her husband's unfaithfulness, not God's unfaithfulness.

She was understanding these truths:

1. God is never responsible for another person's sins (James 1:13).

2. When people sin against us, God promises to use it for our good if we continue to walk according to His purposes (Romans 8:28).

3. Nothing is impossible for God (Jeremiah 32:27; Ephesians 3:20). God can restore our peace and joy even if our circumstances are difficult.

4. We won't understand why some things happen to us until we see Christ face-to-face (1 Corinthians 13:12).

5. God wants to comfort us (2 Corinthians 1:3-7).

This 1-minute devotion offers 5 things to remember when your life doesn't make sense and you feel like blaming God.
So next time you feel like blaming God for some difficulty, I encourage you to:

💙 Read Hebrews 12:1-3 and remember that you need not grow weary or lose heart.

💙 Read Hebrews 4:15 and remember that Jesus understands your suffering and temptations.

💙 Read Psalm 34:18 and remember that God wants to heal your broken heart.

💙💙💙💙💙

You might also find it helpful to read No Matter What. It's about a time when my husband and I lost a large amount of savings, and a passage in the book of Habakkuk was a great comfort to us.

  1. As a mom of special needs kids I so get that "God Why?" question. Then I look at them and know that they are exactly as God created them to be.

    1. Hi Michelle,
I think we suffer more for our children than for ourselves, don't you?
I love your response--knowing your children are exactly as God created them.
Thanks for that perspective and insight.
      God bless,
      Gail
