Scripture Harmony

These two Scriptures seem to contradict, but they don't. It's all part of Scripture's harmony. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Devotions

Do the verses below harmonize or cause discordance?

“Faith without works is useless … man is justified by works and not by faith alone.” James 2:20-24

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9

Like all of Scripture, they harmonize because:

♫ We are not saved by works, but faith always produces works. If we have no works, then we have no faith.

“No matter how closely we may examine any one text, we must remember that it is but one movement in the symphony that is 'Scripture' as a whole. The glorious balance and harmony of God’s revelation in Scripture is found in the entirety of its testimony.” James White

Dear Christians, let's not pull passages out of context or build our beliefs on part of the truth. Let's correctly handle God's Word (2 Timothy 2:15).

I'm rejoicing today in the harmony of God's Word!

A great many misunderstandings and false teachings originate by emphasizing one aspect of Scripture while ignoring complimentary passages. A good example is prayer. This 1-minute devotion explains: Understanding Prayer in Context

  1. Such a good point to bring out Gail. It is our faith that makes us want to serve others and do things for the Lord. Thanks so much for linking up with me last week.
