Reach Out and Touch Someone Today!

Studies show some interesting and wonderful truths about God's design for human touch. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

Did you know that companionship and touch have a significant effect on our health? (source)

They can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve immune function, and even reduce pain.

The fine tuning of the human body is fascinating. We're designed to spend time with others, enjoy closeness, connectedness, and appropriate intimacy.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up...” 1Thessalonians 5:11

Ask God if there's someone who needs your touch today. They might need a hug, a warm handshake, or a pat on the back.

If you can’t reach out and touch them physically, why not give them a call or write a letter or email.

The most important mission God has for you today may be to reach out and touch someone who is lonely, sick, sad, away from home or dealing with a difficulty (Ephesians 2:10).

And you might even improve their health in the process!

  4. Having worked in an AIDS Hospice I know how true this statement is. These people who have cast out by their own community crave to be touched, massaged, helped to sit up, bathed. Small acts of physical love make them feel human again and worthwhile and not the garbage - some of our folk who came to die with dignity in our Hospice were actually found on garbage dumps - they had been put their to die by their own community. Imagine going a whole day without touching someone? I can't.

  5. It is so important to touch the lives of others and to not withhold physical touch when it is right to do so! Thanks for sharing on NOBH?

  8. Oh hallelujah and amen! I often think about how many people there are in the world who never get a comforting or loving touch. And it disturbs and saddens me no end! I think one of the kindest things you can do for someone is physically affirm that they are a meaningful and important human being. And sharing yourself with them by giving them a comforting or reassuring touch is a perfect way to do that. Thank you so much for posting and for linking up through NOBH! Smiles -

    1. I regret that I have had to start doing this on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would prefer putting the entire devotion in emails as I do on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. But my work load has increased and writing 5 new devotions each week has become too much for me. Since I have thousands of devotions from the archives, I've started sharing those on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I'm unable to send more than the link when I do.

So sorry. I hope you'll hang in there anyway.
      God bless you.
