Self-Sacrifice

A true story about a woman who fired her kidney donor and a Bible lesson. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

A New York mother donated her kidney to save her boss’s life only to have her boss fire her shortly afterward.

It's easy to identify the giver and the taker in this situation, but we don't have to fire our kidney donor to be a taker. And we don't have to give up a kidney to be a giver.

Takers are all around us. They're the people who are stingy with their time and money. They take coworkers, neighbors, friends, and family for granted, and rarely show their gratitude.

Givers are also all around us. They're the people who follow through on commitments, help neighbors, donate money, and inconvenience themselves.

It's our choice: we can be givers or takers in life.
But God calls us to be givers:

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:3-4

  2. It's hard to make self sacrifices, but it is worth it when we do. I for instance would much rather relax on a Saturday than help someone move or something! We are really good at excuses!

  3. What a great reminder to be a giver and not a taker. Thanks.
