I posted a video of a beautiful cloud formation on Bible Love Notes' Facebook page with this caption, "Isn't God's creation beautiful... I imagine God smiles when He sees us enjoying it."
Someone commented, "Does he smile when children starve to death too?"*
If someone blamed me for starving children, I'd admit I'm a descendant of Adam who brought sin into our world, so I'm indirectly responsible.
But it's extremely ironic to blame God.
Mankind messed up God's perfect world, and we've been blaming Him for it ever since. Despite our mockery, He hasn't given up on us. He still offers love and eternal life.
And He wants everyone to know Him (1 Timothy 2:3-6).
Blaming God makes people feel superior and blinds them to their sins. But when we become part of God's forever family, we take responsibility for our sins.
And our God, who is continually mocked and blamed, took our punishment! Now that's the hardest of all truths to grasp!

Thank you. I too read something on Facebook that totally mocked God. And thousands of people responded. I read a few and then deleted it however I was bothered about it. When I read this today I felt better. God knew how I was feeling.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting, Linda. I get mostly wonderful, God-honoring comments on my blog, Facebook and Pinterest, but occasionally I get this type. There are times I feel I should respond in some way defending or explaining God. However, I am finding that those who write these comments usually become more angry and rude if I keep the discussion going. I felt that the best thing to do with this comment was delete it.
DeleteIt really is hard to see our Lord blamed and mocked when He has done far more for mankind than we deserve!

The starving children is a taught line from the new athesists. I say that because in different places even yours it is the same arguement. It's funny they say Christians do not think for themselves, yet they repeat faithfully the arguements they are taught without personal research. And agreed they are not interested in any intelluctual conversation. As sad as it is Dawkins teaches to mock people of faith as we do not deserve anything else. Meme is his vehicle of choice to spread well, gossip.
DeletePeople hide behind their computer screens and it's so easy to blame God and mock Christians. But we don't have to argue, we have the Truth. "Fighting back" and anger won't solve anything, either.

DeleteSometimes someone disagrees in a respectful way or with a genuine question, but most of the people who disagree over the internet tend to have their minds made up and don't really listen.

I also agree with Christine too, Gail! fighting back and anger does not solve our problems. we need to turn to the heavenly father for forgiveness of our sins. then we ask our loved ones for forgiveness just by talking in a nice way.
