Thirty years ago my husband helped with a short-term mission trip. Uphill hikes with heavy packs in the Mexican sunshine took the team to remote villages where they shared Christ.
One morning they awoke to find their tents, sleeping bags, and gear soaking wet from a heavy rain. But there wasn't a single complaint. You see, this was no ordinary team. These Air Force Academy cadets had given up their spring break to sleep in these muddy tents. They were soldiers on a mission, prepared by the rigorous Academy training.
And their attitude is a good example for those of us in "God's army."
"Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer." 2 Timothy 2:3-4
Our Commanding Officer is Jesus, and He's warned us that we will face difficulties in this life (John 16:33).
But He's given us full armor to protect us (Ephesians 6:11-18).
And we have a Holy Spirit strategy: "We do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:3-4).
Let's fight false teachings and unbelief on the battlefront where God has placed us.

Bible Love Notes
Gail, I love this. A great contrast to the teachers who are telling us that a life of faith is one of prosperity and ease. The Bible never promises comfort, but a mission, a purpose, and the grace, mercy, and love of God. Thanks for blessing me once again.
ReplyDeleteAmen.
DeleteThanks for the reminder my sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome .. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Do you have anything on Psalm 7:11, “God is angry with the wicked everyday”?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, Angie, I haven't written anything about that Psalm.
