Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers.
And even though he suffered for many years before gaining freedom, he forgave his brothers and told them this:
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good...” Genesis 50:20
Throughout his life, Joseph:
- Admitted when things weren't right, fair, or just.
- Trusted God’s purposes in spite of his circumstances.
Being a Christian doesn’t mean we pretend bad things don’t happen. It means we trust God to use them for our good.
Genesis 50:20 is the Old Testament Romans 8:28:
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Are you facing injustice? If so, admit the bad and keep walking into God's good purposes.

ReplyDeleteI love those words, "in spite of." I hope I always trust Joseph's way.
ReplyDeleteLove this reminder Gail! :) Joseph is an awesome example of what it means to trust in God.
ReplyDeleteI love the story of Joseph and you didn't disappoint me. Thank you for the reminder to trust like Joseph and to forgive when things aren't fair.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this greatly! Two great rules to live by!
ReplyDeleteThat's why prosperity preaching is so dead wrong, you can't reconcile all the awful things that happened to Joseph with the thought if you do what's right good things will happen. I always love your thoughts Gail.
