Imagine my surprise when I heard how popular it was, even among Christian women. Sometimes we modern-day Christians see things in shades of gray when they are actually black and white, and this “mommy-porn” is one example.
No shades of gray here: We should not be entertaining ourselves with anything that glorifies immorality. It doesn’t enhance our relationship with God or our husbands, no matter what anyone tells us.*
God’s design is mocked when women, who are designed to associate sex with love and marriage, enjoy books that glorify illicit sex in any form, but especially when associated with bondage.
May we glory in godly womanhood, not sinful, deceptive pleasures.

I have heard of this book and have no intention reading it! I am sad that Christian women are reading it! Patsy from

Never heard of this book, but it saddens me to think that it is so popular. I also grieve when I see Christian's not even flinching in watching movies that contain immorality, immodesty & profane language. We are being rocked to sleep by Satan. Thanks for your boldness, Gail! Continue to speak out against sin and to encourage us to stay out of the gray area! It is getting harder & harder these days.
ReplyDeleteI had heard about this book and I am shocked to hear that Christian women are reading it. We need to pray for our Christian sisters because the Devil is very cunning. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteJust reading the description of this book made me feel sick at heart. How in the world can any believer think that this subject matter is in any way pleasing to the Lord?
ReplyDeleteThanks for caring enough to have shared this post. I never heard of this book either. It is so important to keep our hearts and our minds pure before God.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have heard of this book, I have not investigated it and am so glad that you have raised awareness among Christians about it.
ReplyDeleteThe verse "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" came to mind as I was reading your post.
I think it speaks volumes about our culture that what is immediately recognized as profane in another culture is so readily accepted in ours.
I pray that God continues to bless you, your family, your blog and your ministry!
I have been reading so many posts about this, and I am so glad I am! I am glad that the blogging community is taking a strong stand against this book! I, too, am shocked that Christian women are reading this sort of thing. Oh be careful little eyes what you see and read!
ReplyDeleteHow very true Gail! One of the young women at work (a non Christian) said she downloaded it on Kindle and she was not amused... she said it is badly written and a load of filth. She did read it through to the end however. Someone else said that it has put images in their mind which they cannot shake off and she doesn't think about her husband when spending times in privacy!!!! This is adultery plain and simple! People need to be warned!
ReplyDeleteCan I get an Amen!? Thank you so much for speaking up about this book that seems to be misleading so many. I hope that others realize the truth and guard the beauty of their relationships with their husbands the way God intended.
ReplyDeleteGail...You know, I had not even heard of this book until today! Yes, I've read three blogs today that have mentioned it. What you say is right on! It is a frightening thought that it has made such an impact in the Christian world. Thank you for the scriptural reminder to be careful what we sow.
ReplyDeleteGreat post Gail! Anything causing me to look away from Jesus is not to be tolerated...no matter who produces it. AMEN!
ReplyDeleteSo true! I blogged about that last week, and was saddened by so many of my Christian friends supporting this. Thanks for bringing the truth. :) I hope you'll join my link-up on Wednesday - I'll be giving away a $25 Wal-mart gift card. Blessings, Lauren lholmes79.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely and thank you for sharing this. And it is even more frightening to know that young girls are reading this book and filling their minds with this.
ReplyDeleteComing over here from Time Warp Wife link-up today.
I could not agree more, love your new look btw : )
ReplyDeleteThanks! : )
DeleteThis is excellent and I completely agree with you - not just in books but movies as well. I was surprised how many women wanted to go see the recent porn star movie Magic Mike... Then they wonder why they are having trouble in their marriages... Excellent post! I'll be sharing this if you don't mind :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathleen, and feel free to share it. It's encouraging to know it might help others.
DeleteAMEN. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you!!!!
ReplyDeletePraying for protection over marriages everywhere, knowing that they are constantly attacked by the enemy. Thank you for sharing this on NOBH.
