Impatient? Check Out this Bible Tactic!

I was becoming extremely impatient with a set back in my recovery. I needed this biblical tactic to keep me from depression.

Ever been impatient for patience?

I had a hip replacement and the process seemed soooooo slow to me. Unable to bend down to pick up something on the floor, unable to cross my legs along with other restrictions for 6 weeks.

But by week four, I was finally beginning to feel more normal, walking without pain and without cane.

Then I twisted my leg and messed up my sciatica nerve and ended up back with pain and cane.

I started wallowing in self-pity, so I knew I needed to do what I've done many times before: I copied some Scriptures on patience and read them throughout the day, especially when I was feeling low:

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” Psalm 37:37

I'm not saying this was an “instant fix,” but the more I read through those verses, the more I could feel God's Word, alive and moving in my heart, judging and correcting my thoughts (Hebrews 4:12 see below).

If you're dealing with a problem, please consider using Scripture to correct your thoughts.

Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
