Christmas can be a stressful time with the added responsibilities of shopping for gifts, meal-planning, baking, decorating, traveling, etc.
And it can be doubly stressful if we're dealing with difficult family members or sad memories.
When we begin to feel overwhelmed, we should pull out our Bibles and listen to some angels:
An
angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds to announce that Christ,
the Messiah, was born. He said, "I bring you good news that will cause great joy" (Luke 2:9-11).
Then a great company of angels joined him and said, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests" (Luke 2:13-14).
These
angel words should help relieve our holiday stress, reminding us that
when Christ came to earth, He accomplished our salvation, and when we
asked Him to be our Lord, we became those on whom God's favor rests.
When we are struggling, we can fix "our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith" (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Even if our Christmas celebration is less than perfect, we can find peace and joy in our perfect Savior.
