Why have Christians throughout history been criticized and falsely accused even though, in Christ, they have offered more kindness and hope than any other force in the world?
It’s because Satan works full-time to discredit us.
He is “the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night” (Revelation 12:10). Only at Christ’s final judgment will he be fully silenced (Revelation 20:10).
Scripture tells the story of Satan going to God and claiming that Job would curse God if God removed his blessings (Job 1:9-11). It was a false accusation. Job struggled, but he maintained his strong faith.
However, Satan isn't deterred by these failures. He has an enormous workforce of accusers to help him because “the whole [unsaved] world is under the control of the evil one” (1 John 5:19).
It's no wonder that in our modern culture, ex-vangelicals(1) have joined forces with atheists to discredit Christians, focusing on the bad examples and ignoring the good.
They falsely accuse us of hate, but the truth is this: we trust God's Word and let God define right and wrong because He alone fully understands what damages people's hearts and souls.
But cheer up, dear faithful Christ-followers, because God is for us:
“Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.” Romans 8:33
