Recently someone wrote and told me that I should quit trying to defend God and His Word because God can defend Himself.
This person didn’t realize that contending for our faith is necessary and important.
⮞ Contending is not a passive verb. It involves effort and passion:
"I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people." Jude 1:3
⮞ Contending for the faith means being prepared (i.e. knowing God's Word):
"In your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15
⮞ Contending for the faith means bringing our beliefs in line with Scripture and refuting false teachings:
"We
demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the
knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient
to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5
⮞ Contending means holding on to God's truth no matter who opposes it:
"Hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught …refute those who oppose it." Titus 1:9
⮞ Contending means shining light in the darkness:
"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them." Ephesians 5:11
Are you contending for the faith?

Bible Love Notes
Great post. A reminder I certainly needed. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis is so powerful! Except that God's word is a mystery, and He reveals it to whoever He desires!
ReplyDeleteLook at Psalms 2:1-7 there is conspiracy of world political leaders to fight against Christ and His host.
The current policies are branding people to fall short of God's glory without knowing it. It's through the so called vaccination.
