True Hope

False teachings offer health and wealth on earth. Scripture offers eternal glory. This 1-minute devotion explains.

Some false teachings promise Christians health and wealth on earth.

In truth, our physical world—including our bodies—have been subject to disease, death, and decay since the fall of mankind.

Paul called it the “bondage of decay” and said, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18-26).

Christ gave believers rule over all things, Yet at present we do not see everything subject to them” (Hebrews 2:6-8). That’s why Jesus Himself promised we’d have trouble in the world (John 16:33).

False teachings offer health and wealth during this speck of time we live on earth. Scripture offers eternal glory:

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

When life seems hard, we need to focus on eternity.
