Finding Strength in the Psalms

When we're stressed, discouraged, and heavyhearted, the Psalms can be the perfect place to dwell. This 1-minute devotion explains. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Devotions #Psalms

I was stressed, discouraged, and heavyhearted. That’s why I chose to read the Psalms for my quiet time. The Psalms are especially helpful when we’re down because many of the Psalms were written when the psalmist was discouraged.

💙 Psalm 105:4 jumped out at me: “Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!”

💛 What a great reminder that my own strength isn’t enough. I need the Lord’s strength because “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

💙 And I gain God's strength when I seek His presence continually: reading His Word, praying, having fellowship with other Jesus-lovers. Sometimes when I’m stressed, discouraged, and heavyhearted, I neglect those things—when I need them the most.

💛 We have this wonderful promise: “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18).

💙 And when we are hurt, we also know that the Lord “is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

  1. Thank you Lord for this right on time word! I'm in Virginia while my 72 yr old mother is in Mississippi. My impulse is to pack up my boys and go to get her, however she has said no because God is covering her and we would bring more risk to her and ourselves by traveling. I know full well this is true. My mom started a biweekly bible study on the phone with my her friends and their daughters in the same situation and from all over the country. All women 40 to 70+. We had 16 last time. It brings me closer to her and my honorary aunties. Gaining knowledge and wisdom from them is the highlight of my week. We have had a strong focus in Psalms and it has brought me great encouragement. This is right on time! Please take good care during this time. I will be praying for you as you have done for me... without knowing me. May God continue to watch over you and hold you and your family during this time in Jesus's name!
