Nehemiah's Protection Plan

Nehemiah's plan for rebuilding the Jerusalem city walls is a good plan for protecting God's work in our lives from Satan's attacks. #BibleLoveNotes #Nehemiah #Devotions

After Israel's exile, their enemies tried to thwart Israel's plans to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls (Nehemiah 4).

So Nehemiah set up this routine:

1. “Half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor.
2. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah who were building the wall.
3. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked.
4. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.” (Nehemiah 4:16-18)

Satan wants to thwart God’s plans in our lives (1 Peter 5:8), and we can learn from Nehemiah’s plan:

1. Put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
2. Seek godly counsel so mature believers can “have our back” (Proverbs 19:20).
3. Have our sword of the Spirit at hand to protect and defend (Hebrews 4:12).
4. Be “watchful” in prayer so we hear God’s warning “trumpet” (Colossians 4:2).

Bible Love Notes

  1. Hi Gail. Merriest CHRISTmas to you and your family. Just want to thank you for sharing your knowledge about the word of God. I am a pastor's wife that's why I do a lot of readings and your blogs are one of my favorites. I am from Southern Baptist and I belong particularly to an independent church here in Antipolo City, Philippines.
Gail, may we know from what denomination you belong?

    1. Hi Menchu,

Thank you! I'm glad that you enjoy Bible Love Notes.

My husband and I have lived all over the world during our lifetime, first with the military, then with overseas missions, and now with stateside ministry work.

We were both raised in liberal denominations but when we committed our lives to the Lord (after we were married), we didn't choose a particular denomination. Whenever we moved, we looked for a church that was Bible-believing and Bible-teaching.

After my husband's military career we both got our Masters in Discipleship from a conservative non-denominational seminary (Columbia Biblical Seminary in Columbia SC).

      We currently attend a Bible-believing non-denominational church.

I remember hearing about a particular mission that was asked to send their mission statement to an agency and they sent a Bible. I want that to be my mission as well--to accurately share truths from God's Word.

I hope that helps you understand my background.
      God bless you!
