False Confidence

Scripture tells us that false teachers have confidence in their errors. This is also true of many genuine believers. This 1-minute devotion explains how to avoid this problem. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible #Biblestudy #devotions

False teachers often exude confidence:

“They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.” 1 Timothy 1:7

But false confidence is not limited to false teachers.

Most Christians, at one time or another, put their confidence in popular errors. I know I have. Some of these errors are repeated so often in Christian circles that it's hard for us to realize they aren't biblical.

To avoid error we must:

1. Read Scripture regularly (Colossians 3:16, Dwelling on Scripture).

2. Study Scripture in context - the whole passage, the whole book, the whole Bible (2 Timothy 2:15, Context Adds Clarity).

3. Use study materials written by solid Bible teachers, not teachers who have worldly agendas such as health, wealth, and self-esteem (Matthew 16:24, Don't Trust Teachings that Distort God's Word).

4. Be open to correction if we're confronted with errors in our thinking (Proverbs 9:9; Colossians 2:8).
