Just as soldiers practice military alertness, we need to "practice" spiritual alertness (1 Timothy 4:8).(1)
James 4:7 offers key advice:
“Submit yourselves, then, to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
1. Praying.
Ephesians 6:18: "Be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."
Colossians 4:2: "Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart."
2. Renewing of our minds in God’s Word.(2)
Romans 12:2: "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is..."
3. Fleeing from obvious temptations.
Immaturity (2 Timothy 2:22)
Sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18)
Love of money (1 Timothy 6:9-10)
Ungodly influences (Psalm 101:3)
Ungodly friends (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Personal weaknesses (James 1:14)
4. Taking God’s way out.
1 Corinthians 10:13: "When you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
Let's be submitted and prepared!
