Confidently Sharing Our Fears With God

This devotion explains 4 Things to Ask God when you're distressed, fearful, or feeling hopeless.

We can tell God our worst fears and be confident He’ll help us.

Psalm 143 is a wonderful example.

The Psalmist admits he’s fearful, losing hope, and distressed.

He asks for:

1. Reminders of God’s unfailing love (v.8).
If you need reminders, please read:  Fact: God Loves His Children.

2. Guidance (v.8,10).
If you need guidance, read 5 Ways God Speaks to Us.

3. Understanding of God’s will (v.10).
If you want understanding, read Brainwashing Can Be Good.

4. Rescue from his enemies (v.9,11,12).
If you have temptations, negative thoughts, discouragement, or human enemies, take God’s way out (1 Corinthians 10:13); take them captive (2 Corinthians 10:5); focus on your blessings (Philippians 4:8); trust God’s justice (Jeremiah 9:24), and read 5 Tips for Slaying Giants.

Like the Psalmist, we can take our concerns to God, affirming our trust in Him (v.8), lifting our souls to Him (v.8), hiding ourselves in Him (v.9), and serving Him (v.12).

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." 1 John 5:14
