Discuss, Debate, Discredit

Have Christians forgotten how to disagree? This 1-minute devotion discusses this issues. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

A debate about creation and evolution was derailed when the evolutionist began mocking the creationist, trying to discredit his intelligence.(1)

This same thing happens frequently on social media when people leave rude comments about their opponents. Sadly, many of these rude debaters are Christians.

It would benefit us all to memorize Colossians 4:6:
"Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."

We’re salt in our decaying world. We must not compromise Biblical values, but we must engage people graciously.

It’s easy to get along with folks who agree with us. Our true character is revealed in the kindness and humility we show our opponents.

In the debate between the creationist and evolutionist, the creationist never discredited his rude rival. In God's book, that means the creationist won on two counts!(2)
--------------------
(1) God predicted this type of tactic: 2 Peter 3:3-5
(2) He correctly explained how God created the world and he treated his opponent with grace.
I encourage you to read "6 Christian Rules of Speech."

  1. I won't argue with another. I have been in so many Christian groups off and on over the past few years and discovered it simply does not pay to do so.

  2. I'm sorry, you have encountered that, kind of behavior, in others. Are,you a "Born Again christian". Still, they shouldn't treat you that way! That's very unkind of them, to treat you in such a an unchristian manner! Act's 2:23 Revelations 20:27 and Revelations 21:15-18. John14:6 God bless you always, and many blessings to you,and your family!
    Amen and Amen.
