Bumps in the Road of Life Test Our Faith
Anyone can have faith on smooth roads. It's the bumpy roads that test and reveal our true faith.
We lived in Budapest for 5 years and we make annual trips back to meet friends and/or do ministry.
I love Budapest, but it has provided a great many bumps in the road for me. In the last fifteen years my plans in Budapest have been interrupted by a broken ankle, serious dental problems, a torn PCL,(1) serious food poisoning, multiple difficulties with accommodations, and bad cases of the flu.
I’ve met some of these events with faithful calmness, letting my suffering produce perseverance (Romans 5:3-5).
However, when the rubber met the road this last week with another bad case of the flu, I left skid marks of discouragement and annoyance.
So God reminded me of my blind friend who is also here in Budapest doing ministry. He reminded me of a bazillion blessings I have, and He reminded me that He can work all things for good (Romans 8:28). He also reminded me that I could ask for prayer - will you pray for me, dear readers?
Basically, He rotated my tires so I'll be ready for the next bump in the road.
Do you need your faith tires rotated?(2)

(2) Rotating car tires prevents uneven wear and corrects poor alignment. We need to align our purposes with the Lord or we wear ourselves out!

Praying for you!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you, Gail!
My faith was tested recently by a bump in the road and your blog was one of the blessings God gave me to hold me and strengthen my faith. He is so, so faithful! After each bump in the road, if we trust Him, our faith gets stronger, don’t you agree?
Praying for you!
