First Place

We become like our idols.

Scripture says so.

"They followed worthless idols and became worthless themselves." (Jeremiah 2:5)

In fact, Romans 3:11-12 says we're all worthless without Christ:

"There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

Turning from worthless idols in our lives, Philippians 3:8We become shallow and worldly when we make idols of things like fame, fortune, pleasure, prestige, and lust.

We can also make idols of good things: fitness, family, church, community, country, good deeds. Anything we prioritize above God devalues us.

But giving Jesus first place in our lives brings our lives value: we become valuable because He is valuable.

Is there anyone or anything you've place above Christ? If so, this is a good time to repent and proclaim with the Apostle Paul:
"I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord." Philippians 3:8

  1. Apart from God (Jesus ) I can do nothing, no good. Nothing that is worth bragging about. But with God I can do all things. So I chose to not be apart of anything that God doesn't want me to be. ♡
