Never Enough

God and repetition, 4 Gospels, 66 books
You've probably figured out that I'm a strong believer in "less is more" since most of my devotions are approximately 160 words.

I don't like wordiness, and I find it tedious when a speaker takes 45 minutes to say what he could in 15. But wordiness is not the same as repetition. According to Scripture, we need repetition.

Peter says:
"I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory..." 2 Peter 1:12-13

And Paul says:
"It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you." Philippians 3:1.

Sixty-six books...four Gospels...repeated principles, stories and history. No matter how often we read the Bible, we can't hear the message of God's love too much

  1. Sometimes I think we just need to hear it more because we're stupid, lol! Seriously though, I need God drumming stuff into my head because I get busy and get off track, I forget, I try to "help" Him, etc. I need to be reminded of His love and faithfulness every day so I will continue to be thankful to Him every day!

  2. You are the best at keeping your posts to the point, succinct and without wordiness. I should learn to do that!! The Bible doesn't have wordiness but repitition because we need it. I also like the different perspectives that the gospels present the life of Jesus.

  3. I am the same way! At least when it comes to conversations. Keep it short and sweet and get to the point quickly please! But I have to be careful to watch my attitude because my husband likes to speak in long detailed essays complete with unnecessary bunny trails (in my opinion, anyway).

  4. Im so glad God doesnt mind repetition, since this girl needs his repetitive forgiveness all the time. I also need to repeat his words in my heart and mind daily. The repetitive nature of His grace is awesome!
