While shopping, I saw a pair of simple canvas shoes. They were the same quality as similar less-expensive footwear. But they had the name “Kate Spade” sewn on top and that made the price four times higher.
It’s amazing that a name can increase the value of something so far beyond it’s worth.
Then I realized: I’m like those Kate Spade shoes!
You see, I was once a worthless sinner (Romans 3:12). Then Jesus marked me with His name. And my value increased far beyond my worth because His name is above all names (Philippians 2:9).
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 1:13
Next time you see something overpriced because it bears a particular name, realize the same is true of you if you love Jesus.
