I'm Not Crazy Enough

Jesus tells us to do the opposite of what the world tells us
“The world says, Get, and Jesus says, Give. In terms of the world’s sanity, Jesus is crazy as a coot, and anybody who thinks he can follow him without being a little crazy too is laboring less under the cross than under a delusion.” *
Frederick Buechner

Lately, I’ve been pretty sane.

It’s so easy to slip into the ease and comfort of the world’s thinking. But Christianity is taking up a cross, dying to self, returning good for evil, loving our enemies, forgiving offenders, taking the narrow way…

Sometimes I want to explain away the radical aspects of our faith because living like the world seems so "sane" and following Jesus so crazy--so contrary to my human nature.

Paul said,“We are fools for Christ… weak… dishonored!” (1 Corinthians 4:10). But he also said: “Therefore I urge you to imitate me” (1 Corinthians 4:16).

Today let's ask God to show us where we need to "get a little crazy"--more biblical and less worldly. Let's make sure that our definition for fool is the right one.
