Calling God a Liar

1 John 1:8-10
I enjoy watching old Perry Mason shows because the bad guy always confesses in the end.

It would be nice if that were true in real life because honesty solves so many problems.

There seem to be 3 basic reasons for lies:
1. to avoid hurting someone
2. to make ourselves look better than we are
3. to get something we don’t deserve

And there are 2 basic types of lies:
1. lying to others
2. lying to ourselves

Lying to ourselves often follows lying to others, but it can also occur when we ignore and justify our sins or blame others for our sins.

1 John 1:8-10 says this is the same as calling God a liar!!

Today let's ask God to help us identify any self-deception in our hearts and make our lives as honest as the end of a Perry Mason Show.

  1. Great post Gail! I am a firm believer in telling the truth, not only to myself but to others as well, of course I always try and make sure that I add a heaping helping of love. The truth might sting a little at first but in the end I think people appreciate the honesty, at least I know I do. We just have to remember that if we dish out the truth, we have to be prepared to take it as well :)

  2. God's love helps to take an honest look at ourselves... what would be at times so hard to do, is possible with His grace. Great Post! stopping by from Faith Filled Fridays
