Everytime I Drink a Glass of Iced Tea

Simple Prayer Reminders
There are so many important things to pray about, but usually I just focus on my family.

For example, I want to pray for victims of sex trafficking.  My heart breaks for little girls sexually abused every day of their lives while I enjoy freedom and safety. My heart breaks…but I rarely remember to pray for them.

So I came up with an idea--a way to make prayer a habit in my life: Why not remind myself to pray by associating certain prayer needs with my daily activities:
  • When I drink a glass of iced tea (I like iced tea), I’ll pray for those little girls, even if it's just a quick silent prayer at a restaurant.
  • When I get in my car, I’ll pray for unborn babies.
  • When I brush my teeth...well, you get the idea.
Colossians 4:2 says:
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Would you join me in this prayer experiment and share ways you devote yourself to prayer?

  1. One of my friends who has a busy career with lots of travel said she wanted to pray for her college age son more. So she changed her password on her computer to "PrayMark." Now she does each time she logs on.

  2. Hi Gail - great idea! think I will start to do something like that, association prayers.
    God bless

  3. I have a prayer box and each night I pick three different people or situations to pray about out of the box.

I love to pray, I also pray in the morning for specific people and try to pray throughout the day.

  4. I love the password and 3 from the prayer box ideas! Thanks for sharing. Gail

  5. I love the idea to prompt purposeful prayer like that. Thanks for sharing!

  6. What a great idea! This year I am seeking to highlight one prayer request a week and pray for it throughout the day for seven days. I like this association idea, even though I don't drink sweet tea. ;)

  7. That's a great idea and a wonderful way to 'pray without ceasing.'

  8. This is genius- to attach your healing thoughts to every day activities!

  9. Really thankful for getting to read this. Lots of good ideas. I have often lamented how many things break my heart and that I wish I could remember to pray about them more but if you prayed about everything all at once that is on your heart-- it would take a lot* of time! I like this method of spreading them out throughout the day! Thank you!

  10. Every time I hear a fire siren I pray for comfort for the people and safety for them and the fire fighters.
