If you've ever watched a game show or seen news coverage about a lottery, you've seen people clap, shout, and cry with joy over winning money, cars, homes or vacations.
There's nothing wrong with getting excited about some of these things, but let's put them in perspective: They're temporary things of this earth, not eternal.
But those of us who know Jesus have something permanent, eternal, and heavenly to inspire clapping, shouting, and crying with joy.
"Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. For the LORD Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise." Psalm 47, excerpts
Why not take a few moments today and read aloud one of the Psalms that focuses on praising God? Or better yet, make up a Psalm of our own. He's worth celebrating!
