Sin Stinks...Literally

Under certain conditions, Manna turns rotten and stinks. This 1-minute devotion explains why that's important to each of us. #BibleLoveNotes #Bible

Exodus 16:21-30 offers an interesting illustration of obedience.

God told Moses to tell the people of Israel to collect manna daily, never keeping it overnight. But one day a week, they could collect a double amount for the Sabbath.

Some of the people obeyed. Others decided they were wiser than God and thought it was less wasteful to keep their leftovers. And it would make their lives easier to collect manna once or twice a week instead of every day.

But when they did this, their leftover manna was "full of maggots and began to smell." What a good illustration of disobedience. It stinks!

People today also think they are wiser and more reasonable than God by approving destructive sexual lifestyles and redefining gender according to their human logic. They selfishly approve whatever suits them.

God's purpose in the daily collection of manna was to teach the people about their need for daily dependence on God and His Word (Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4).

However, even when we don't understand God's commands, we can fully trust them.

So let's obey God's commands and trust His wisdom. And when we fail, let's repent and seek His help in overcoming our sins (1 John 1:8-10).

  1. You are so correct. There are a lot of twists and out of the context sayings regarding our christian faith nowadays.
If we don't study the scripture for ourselves we will be carried away by the every wind if doctrine. God Forbid!
