When We're Confused, Our Spirit Knows

When we talk about our faith but don't really feel it, are we lying? Romans 8 gives us the answer. #Bible #BibleLoveNotes #Biblestudy

Have you ever gone through a rough time, questioning God’s purposes, hurting and confused, but when someone asks you about God, you tell of His wonderful faithfulness?

I’ve done this at times and wondered, ‘Am I being phony? I don’t feel God’s faithfulness and strength right now. I’m actually feeling confused and weak.’(1)

So what’s going on?

It’s my spirit controlling my soul. My spirit (God’s Spirit within me) is confident, giving me and others hope even when my mind is struggling with doubts (Romans 8:16-17).

“If we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.” Romans 8:25-27
--------------------
(1) Some biblical examples: Jeremiah spoke boldly of God's faithfulness even when he felt confused, frustrated, and defeated (Jeremiah 12:1-4; Jeremiah 20:7-18). In Psalm 10, the psalmist felt abandoned by God, but he ended his psalm with praise for God's faithfulness.

  3. I am so INCREDIBLY grateful for this post and even more grateful for this entire blog. Your words are always so powerful and amazing so thank you so much for sharing God's wisdom.
This topic in particular was something that I've been struggling with because I really want to be truthful and authentic with others and in my relationship with Christ, so to see that when I speak of God's faithfulness and goodness even when I am emotionally feeling depleted that I am not being dishonest but rather than God's Spirit within me is rescuing me and praising God despite my flawed mind...it makes me feel so loved by God that He would use my very mouth and very body filled with doubt and turmoil to still be useful for Him. Thank you for this post! :)

Also, I would LOVE to feature this post on my blog if that's ok because I want my readers to read this. Could you let me know if that would be alright with you! Thank you!!
