In John 15, Jesus says we can bear fruit only if we stay connected to Him like branches to a vine.
This means we must "actively submit" to Christ’s work in us.
Philippians 2:12-13 puts it this way: “work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
Our job is the easy part but we must take it seriously (with fear and trembling). When we do, we allow God to do His job--the hard part of bringing real and lasting change in our lives.
Our job = stay connected to the Vine through prayer, Bible study, fellowship, godly influences, and obedience to God’s commands.
God’s job = to grow us, make us blossom with beauty and strength, make our lives fruitful in good deeds and in the fruit of the Spirit.
Today let’s make a commitment to do our job and actively submit to our Vine.
