✔ Many professing Christians listen when Satan whispers, “Did God really say that?” (Genesis 3:1). And they decide that certain commands in Scripture are simply written by men.
✔
Many professing Christians claim that it’s unreasonable to expect
people to stand up against certain temptations. For example, they say you
can't expect singles to stay pure before marriage.
It’s as if 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear except in certain cases, such as sexual sin. Then you’re on your own.”
✔ Many professing Christians excuse their sins by blaming them on circumstances or other people. They see themselves as victims, not sinners.
It’s as if James 1:14-15 says: “Each person is tempted by bad people or bad circumstances. Then they sin, but it’s not their fault.”
✔ Accepting lies which discredit God's commands
✔ Giving in to temptation
✔ Blame-shifting our sins onto others
James 1:14-15: “Each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.”
This is why sin entered our world. Eve listened to Satan's lies about God's commands and gave in to temptation (Genesis 3:1-6). Then she and Adam blame-shifted their sins onto others (Genesis 3:12-13).
Satan just keeps telling the same old lies. When are we going to quit listening?

2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
1 Corinthians 10:13: “No
temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God
is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.
But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can
endure it.”
