Each Day He Carries Us in His Arms

Psalm 68:19 contains a wonderful truth that every believer should understand.

Have you ever shared a sad event in your life and had a friend listen with tears in her eyes? Or have you had a friend sit with you for long periods as you shared a deep sorrow, letting you know she cared and was there for you?

These moments are human expressions of the comfort we have in fellowship with Christ “who daily bears our burdens” (Psalm 68:19).

The New Living Translation says, “Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms.”

Our Lord doesn’t simply listen to our burdens or keep a list of our burdens. He bears them. He invests Himself in them. Fully. Willingly. Lovingly. Daily.

When we're mistreated, He does more than sympathize. He grieves. Some people think God can’t feel pain, but that’s not true. It breaks God’s heart to see people choose evil paths. (Genesis 6:6; Ephesians 4:30).

And Jesus not only sympathizes. He empathizes. He has experienced the worst types of hatred, slander, and persecution (Hebrews 4:15-16).

It's a blessing to have a human friend who will rejoice with us and mourn with us (Romans 12:15). But it's nothing compared to the comfort we find in our Lord, who daily bears our burdens.
