From Shame to Pride, From Hidden to Public, From God to Satan

In our series on Romans 1:16-32, we’ve seen how cultures slide down a slope of increasingly evil sins. And the final stage is full approval of sins.

“Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” verse 32(1)

What was once committed in secret shame is celebrated in pride parades, on social media, and in entertainment. People living sinful lifestyles are treated like celebrities, protected and favored, while Christians are mocked and hated for believing God's commands. 

There was a time with these celebrated sins shocked believers and unbelievers alike, but Satan controls the beliefs of unbelievers to serve his destructive purposes (2 Corinthians 4:4). It shouldn't surprise us that the ex-vangelical movement mocks Christianity and applauds LGBTQ lifestyles. 

Sadly, many believers have been shamed into the "judge not" mindset, and they remain silent when they should speak up.

This is a time of testing, dear Christians, and I pray you will join me in rejecting these worldly values so we can approve, celebrate, and promote the truths of God which set men free from sin and hell. 

"I am not ashamed of the Gospel!" (Romans 1:16)

Pray for people caught up in these soul-damaging sins. Pray that genuine believers will have the strength to share God's truth even when we are shamed and insulted for doing so.

(1) The Greek word translated "approval" in this verse means hearty, enthusiastic approval and agreement. This is the type of approval that promotes LGBTQ Pride month, Pride celebrations, and Pride politics. It's the kind of approval that promotes inappropriate sex education classes in schools. It's the kind of approval that emphasizes, promotes, and idolizes LGBTQ characters in books, movies, and television programs as if they comprised larger numbers of the population. It's this approval that is damaging people's hearts and souls and causing them to reject the forgiveness and transformation that Christ can bring them.
